Gianolio, Barolo 2019

Flag of Italy

Cantina Tomaso Gianolio, located in the shadow of Piedmont’s wine and food capitals, is a small, family-run winery founded by Bartolomeo Gianolio in 1930 so he could produce quality wines for his family restaurant and select customers. Today, brothers Davide and Igor continue the legacy that was passed down by their father and winery namesake, Tomaso Gianolio. Barolo 2019 is the estate's top wine. Made with 100% Nebbiolo it is a deep garnet in colour and has a nose of dried rose, violet, lavender, sour cherry and ripe raspberry. The palate is full-bodied with high tannin and a strong acidity which imparts both structure and elegance. On the palate the flavours unfold further with more red cherry and cranberry, accented by subtle notes of liquorice, clove, and anise. The finish is long and elegant; a wine which is drinking well now, but will continue to develop over the next 10+ years.
